The Crafty Momma Podcast

The Crafty Momma Podcast is live!

I can't believe it. I finally did it. I have been wanting to podcast for a while now but things kept me busy. This past weekend I was off work for 2 days in a row and I actually had time to do my first podcast. I am so excited!  This was the big surprise I was talking about in my last post.

You can find it on Youtube or watch it below. I talk about what im knitting, what yarn i'm using, new acquisitions, other podcasts I admire and inspired me to do my own. I also have a segment called My Favourite Things where I talkabout some of the things I am loving at the moment. It doesn't have to be knitting related it can be anything at all. I also talk about my Etsy shop and what is going on in there. At the end of the podcast I have a segment called Chit Chat where I just talk about whatever. Things going on in my life, movies I have seen, tv shows I watch pretty much anything lol I do hope to have more crafts then just knitting and sewing but right now that's mainly what I have been doing.

Here is my first podcast .... I hope you enjoy and if you do make sure you subscribe and give me a thumbs up. I would greatly appreciate it.
[you can find the show notes with links to the things I talk about in my Ravelry group... info on that below the video]

Just a reminder for those of you that didn't see my last post...
I opened a Ravelry Group to chat about knitting, hold knit alongs, do some giveaways, share my shop updates and post show notes from my Youtube podcast. If you are a member of Ravelry you need to come check it out. Crafty Momma Designz Ravelry Group.

Etsy Shop is Open!!!

I am so excited to announce my Etsy shop is open!

In all honesty I opened it on Feb 6th but I have been so busy with work and home and sewing I haven't had a chance to update the blog. I have been sewing every chance I get to try to get new items up this weekend but sadly that is not going to happen. I have today off work so I am hoping I can get an update in by Thursday evening. There is so much to do when you have an Etsy shop I don't think people realize. You make the item, take pictures of the item, you upload the picture and list the item, fill out all the info for the item. Then the fun starts you have to promote the item. Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, Tumblr etc. Im not complaining I love it and I'd rather be doing that then going to my part time job. This is a full time job as it is lol I have so many ideas for the shop I just need the time to make it all happen but I am so happy for where it is now.

I had my first sale!
Not even 24 hours after opening the shop I get a message that I had sold my first item. I was at work, on my break and I checked my phone and saw the message, I was so excited I bet the customers in the store heard me squeal lol. I haven't sold anything since but I think that was pretty good start.

I am also working on a page for the blog to showcase my shop. It will have pictures of the items listed in the shop and links to go directly to them.

Here is a preview of the items I have listed now.

There are a few different sizes for each style to suit all your needs.
The bags are not just for knitting you can use them to hold so many things. Knitting, Crochet, Makeup, Hair Accessories, First Aid kits, Toys, Colouring Books and Crayons, Sharpies, Art Supplies ... the options are endless.

I am always open to suggestions and thoughts on what colours, patterns, themes to make. So if you have an idea I would love to hear it. place your ideas in the comments below and I would love to hear them all.

Also be sure you join my Facebook page I will be doing a giveaway once I hit 100 likes.

I will also be opening a group in Ravelry to talk about knitting, yarn, KALS, and of course do giveaways as well. I will let you all know when that is set up or you can friend me on there and I will invite you as soon as it is open.

A New Year a New Start

First I would like to wish all of you a Happy New Year! Yes I know it is almost the end of January and I haven't been very active in the blog for the past few weeks. Things have been kinda hectic around here. I have been working quite a bit, and for those of you that know I work in retail so my schedule changes from week to week, which can be a bit of a pain when trying to plan time to do things. My daughter sprained her foot a couple weeks ago, so most of my time off I have been taking care of her. She is doing a lot better now. So now I have a little more time to get back to knitting, sewing and crafting.

There are a few things I would like to talk about in this little blog post/update I guess you can say.

New Years resolutions.

I have a few I hope to keep this year.
1. Knit my first pair of socks.
2. Open my Etsy shop.
3. Start a knitting/Sewing/Crafting Podcast on Youtube.
4. Turn one of our rooms into a crafty room.
5. Learn to Crochet.
6. Learn to dye yarn.
7. Build my yarn stash. lol

So It is Jan. 24th and I haven't done any yet. lol I am working on one though. I have been getting ready to open up my Etsy Shop. I will be selling project bags and other knitting/crocheting accessories. I hope to expand it to other sewn items a bit later in the year and I might sell hand dyed yarn if It all goes well in learning how to do that lol

I ordered some business cards and they arrived in the mail 2 weeks ago. YAY!  I kinda went a bit crazy and bought a ton of fabric for bags. I might put a few of each in the shop to start with and then add a few every other week.

Here are a few pics of the fabric soon to be made into project bags.

and my newest stash I picked up last week.

Here is a preview of one of the bags that will be listed in the Etsy Shop Grand Opening! I love this fabric!!

What are some of your Knitting/Crocheting/Crafting New Years Resolutions?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some of the other things I have in the works:

My Etsy Shop:
I have my shop set up I just need to finish sewing a few more bags before I start selling anything. I am hoping to have it open by the end of the month, if all goes as planned. *Fingers crossed*

The Facebook Page:
I made a page for my Etsy shop but I haven't finished setting it up yet. It will be a place to get shop updates as well as some of the free knitting patterns and other crafty stuff I want to share with you.

My Ravelry Group:
I am planning to open a Crafty Momma Designz Rav group soon. In there, will also be shop updates and fun knitting, crocheting, podcast and crafty things to talk about. I am planning on doing some giveaways as well. YAY! Who doesn't love giveaways!

I will update you on the links to all those as they get finished.

If you want to keep up to date with all things CraftyMomma

You can Follow me on Instagram: craftymomma_73

The Blog:
I am hoping to keep the blog more up to date and continue to share free knitting patterns, tutorials, tips and more, like I have before. There will just be some added things to the mix. That being said, I don't think I will be able to continue with the pattern a day but I will still be sharing them weekly if not more.

I am so excited about all the new things I have planned and I hope you all will continue to join me. This is going to be a great year, I can't wait!!

Happy Crafting!

New Arrival, So Exctied!

I have decided to add a little more about my everyday life into the blog. Most of it will still have to do with crafty stuff like knitting and sewing maybe a little cooking and baking but on the odd occasion it may be a little more about the day to day stuff going on in my life. I hope you all will enjoy getting to know more about me on a more personal level

With that being said I AM SO EXCITED!!! My order from fatquartershop arrived today. This is the very first item I ever ordered offline when it comes to craft supplies. I was very skeptical when it came to ordering online, I like going to the craft store or yarn shops to get my supplies. I like to actually look and feel and see it in person so I know exactly what it is I am getting. But with work being a little bit crazy at the moment I haven't had time to get anywhere besides the Wal-Mart that is in the same plaza as my work. [for those of you that don't know I work in retail at a local Dollar Store.] With Halloween and Christmas just around the corner it has been a little bit hectic. Most nights I get home I am too tired to dig out my supplies and sew so I usually just grab my knitting and knit a few rows while I wind down and watch a show before I head to bed.

So anyways... here is a pic of what I received today! It is 1/2 yard of each cotton fabric. I just love them. They are exactly what I was hoping they where, and they only took 9 days to get from Texas to here [Ontario Canada]  So I think there may be more orders from fatquartershop in my future lol

Here they are... aren't they so cute!

Now the big question. What to make? I am thinking maybe a cute project bag for some of my knitting. I am hoping to maybe add a few to my Etsy shop. I have a shop but need to get it stocked lol  I will make sure to add a few photos of the finished projects once I get them done.

What would you make out of these fabrics? Have you ever ordered craft supplies online? If so, what? and how was your experience Let me know in the comments below.
